Fire Safety - its about saving lives!

Fire Safety is all about people safety and protecting property.

My previous post was an introduction to the updates on the 1st of October 2023 with regards to The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 or you may know it as the FSO (Fire Safety Order).

Did you know that as a business owner under the FSO the "Responsible Person" (which could be you) have duties for particular aspects of fire safety. The order clearly states that it applies to 'any premises' except domestic premises or private dwellings. The FSO does however apply to all common parts of mutli-occupied residential dwellings such as HMOs, student halls and blocks of flats.

If you own a business which could be anything from a small shop, office, café, hairdressers, restaurant, pub, marque events, community centre, school, bakery, church, Airbnb, HMO, block of flats (just to name a few) you will need to have a Fire Risk Assessment in place to ensure that you are meeting the latest regulations.

It can sometimes be daunting as a business owner to not only be the expert in your chosen profession but also in running a business and in particular keeping your employees and building safe.

Don't delay in getting to grips with the FSO, its important and should form a part of your overall business continuity plan.
